A dip in the hot tub is a good way to relieve the stress of a long day. Don't increase your stress by getting a bacterial infection.
A whirlpool circulates water but some water will become trapped in the tubing and that creates a great place for bacteria to grow. Even when you drain the tub and clean it, the stagnate water will remain in the tubes.
Here are tips to keep your hot tub in great shape:
1.Close the air intake valves and fill the tub with the hottest water possible. Make sure to fill it a few inches above the jets.
2. Add 1/2 cup bleach and a few squirts of liquid dishwasher detergent, like cascade. Then open the air intake valve and run the jets on full blast. Let it run for 10-15 minutes.
3. Drain tub and fill it again with cold water to rinse. Let it run again for 10-15 minutes. Then drain and wipe down tub.
